Alison Dyer

Alison Dyer was born in the New Forest, England, grew up in Quebec and, for many years, has called Newfoundland home. She holds an M.Sc in physical geography from Memorial University and has a professional background in both the natural sciences and cultural industries.

Alison works as a professional freelance writer, contributing to over 30 magazines and newspapers in North America on topics ranging from environmental issues and sustainable living to business and travel. She also works as a freelance radio broadcaster, researcher and photographer. In addition to journalism, Alison writes fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry. Currently, Alison is at work on an oral history research project, an exploration of soundscapes and several short stories.

Alison has two young children and lives in St John's. When not writing, she can be found kayaking the wild coast of Newfoundland.
