The Historic Sites Association and Writers' Alliance of Newfoundland & Labrador Announce the Winner of the Second Annual Heritage and History Award

Maura Hanrahan is the winner of the second annual Heritage and History Award for her book, Tsunami: the Newfoundland Tidal Wave Disaster (Flanker Press). The announcement was made Monday night by Geoff Peters, Chair of the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, at the LSPU Hall. Ms Hanrahan, along with two of the other shortlisted authors, presented a reading of her work. The award is sponsored by the Historic Sites Association and is given to a work of fiction, non-fiction, poetry or children's literature that best exemplifies excellence in the interpretation of the history and heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador.
