The Historic Sites Association & the Writers' Alliance of Newfoundland & Labrador Announce Heritage and History Award Shortlist

The Historic Sites Association, in partnership with the Writers' Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador, is pleased to announce the shortlist for the second annual Heritage and History Award. A cash prize of $250 will be awarded to the author for a book of fiction, non-fiction, poetry or children's literature that exemplifies excellence in the interpretation of the history and heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Historic Sites Association is sponsoring this award as a way to demonstrate appreciation for those writers whose exploration of their culture and heritage has shaped their writing.

Shortlist:

  • Michael Crummey for The Wreckage, Doubleday Canada
  • Harold Davis for The Starrigans of Little Brook Bottom, Creative Book Publishing
  • Leo Furey for The Long Run, Key Porter Books
  • Nellie Strowbridge for Far From Home, Flanker Press
The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec 4, 2006, 8pm, at the LSPU Hall Gallery, as part of WANL's monthly reading series. Admission is free and open to the public.
