Call for Expressions of Interest for Poetry Month Readings

The League of Canadian Poets is celebrating the 21st annual National Poetry Month in April. This year’s theme is nature – whether it’s mountain ranges, deserts, forests, oceans, or plains; whether it’s a cityscape or a landscape.

To mark National Poetry Month, the Writers’ Alliance is planning a reading event featuring the work of three WANL members. The event will take place at the end of April in St. John’s (venue to be announced).

WANL members in good standing who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to submit an expression of interest to participate in this event. Deadline for submissions is Friday February 8th at 5:00PM NL time to director@wanl.ca

Eligibility criteria (print and spoken word):

  1. Two or more poems published online or in print by publications with an independent editorial review process

  1. Demonstrated interest in continuing to write and publish or perform poetry

  1. Must be available for the Poetry event, scheduled for April 27th or 28th

Priority will be given to poets who didn’t participate in 2018 WANL poetry readings.

Expressions of interest must include:

– Mailing address, telephone and email

– 1-3 poems demonstrating the ‘nature’ theme

– An up-to-date list of publications and invited readings

Submissions that do not contain ALL of the requested information will be deemed ineligible. Readers will be announced mid-March.
