WANL Reads Challenge

Up for the Challenge?

The Writers’ Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador (WANL) is pleased to announce WANL Reads, a reading challenge encouraging the public to read and support Newfoundland & Labrador authors. The challenge will run for the months of February and March in recognition of I Love to Read Month (February) and National Reading Month (March).

Newfoundland & Labrador is known for its creativity and artistic talent, and its writers are among the best in the world. WANL Reads is a celebration of the literature published by some of these writers over the past year. There’s something for just about everyone on the WANL Reads book list with genres as diverse as children’s literature, folklore, sci-fi, humour, art, and historical fiction, just to name a few. And the best part? You could win big for reading with WANL Reads!

  1. Choose a book (or books) from our WANL Reads book list.
  2. Post a picture of the book you’re reading on your Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, tagging us and using the #WANLReads OR (for everyone who isn’t on social media) email the picture to us at Please ensure your social media posts are public so we can see them.
  3. Caption your post with a few words about the book you’re reading—for example, comments on plot, what you liked about it, etc. Please be sure to include the title and author as well.
  4. Challenge your friends to do the same!

Each individual participant will be eligible to receive one entry per book read up to a maximum of five entries into the prize draw.

Participants must be current residents of Canada.
