Joannie Smith Coffin
Joannie Smith Coffin lives in Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, with her husband Garry. A retired health care professional, Mother and Grandmother she is now an active volunteer in her community and an advocate for social justice issues. An avid reader and occasional writer for professional and social newsletters, Joannie discovered many years ago the value of sharing a message through storytelling. Joannie’s first book was published in December 2016 by Boulder Publications and is a fictional children’s story co-authored with son Brent, a professional Artist and Illustrator. It is a fairy-tale based on the theme that hope, imagination and good will can change lives under very difficult circumstances. The story was inspired by a young person who embodied the true meaning of grace and selflessness in the face of adversity. A portion of royalties are committed to the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation and the Janeway Children’s Hospital for the sales life of the book. Joannie looks forward to taking on other literary endeavours in the future.
